This poem reminds me of all the poems I read at school during major tests I had to take, but this is one of the ones (probably ever) that made me feel intrigued.
I liked how not only how the poem had a theme involving love, but it talked about its other aspects to go with it: Beauty, tragedy, romance, all in which that this woman deals with her life, while trying to live happily and peacefully. I liked how the similes and metaphors are used here, describing the appearance of the woman by comparing it to romantic items, like a blooming flower and Valentine cards. The descriptions about her sadness and her assumed tragic life juxtapose to her dance and appearance really nicely, and makes me feel more sympathetic toward her despite how we know nothing major about her.
It is a tragic, but sweet poem with a gloomy tone that describes the problems and life of this woman possibly had, and what she does to try and cope with it all without giving up on life. I don't know what inspired you to write this, but this was really beautiful.
I wrote this back in college, and was inspired by a girl who came onto my bus after I'd worked night shifts. She was dressed to the nines and bawling her eyes out. Thanks for the comment I really appreciate the feed back
